Formed along a coastal anchor of California in early 2009,Post-grunge/alternative metal trust, Railroad to Alaska, began compiling their interests between genres into a cooperative act.
Lead vocalist/guitarist Justin Suitor, guitarist Jeff Lyman, vocalist/bassist Justin Morales, drummer Derek Eglit, and lyricist/artist Ryan Williams issued their first recorded effort in the fall of 2010. The EP titled, luckybearclawdoom, cultivated an aggressive buzz in the local area and was delivered as a demand for creative conviction. After touring the small club circuits of Southern California over the next year, the group pulled together to document their looming new sound. Marked by gaining notoriety with publications, and winning "Best New Artist" at the Orange County Music Award's, the group was provided with the opportunity to inhabit a larger platform.
The spring of 2011 brought their second recording, Salvation, to the surface. With the approach to both lyrics and music becoming more cerebral and tarnished, the group began to unpack the ambitions of revival.
July and August brought a stint on The Vans Warped Tour. As one of the few unsigned bands, Railroad to Alaska made an immediate impression on punk legends FEAR which lead to an opening slot with them in September.
OC Music Awards winner of Best New Artist in 2011, Railroad to Alaska, took home the coveted prize of a music video produced for the song of their choice, "The Real Thing, "compliments of OC Music Awards and the Awards visual production company, Akorn Entertainment.
